Interesting that you would quote Carl Sagan. And this illustrates our problem - you and I take different meanings for the same quote. Sagan was describing the scientific model method of weeding out human bias and finding scientific truth. He was not describing any sort of search for a spiritual or religious truth. Indeed, Sagan was at least a agnostic but may have been an atheist. He is a great hero of atheists.
You have not provided any evidence that is any more compelling or persuasive than what a Muslin, Mormon, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, etc. provide. All believers Claim the Truth and point to ancient writings to prove they are right. All religions are not the same - they vary is significant ways. I've never claimed that Christianity is the same as other religions - but the level of proof is the same: I'm right because my books says I'm right.
I stand by an earlier comment - TJ is a Christian because she was born in a Christian culture. If TJ was born in Saudia Arabia she would be a veiled Muslim woman (hard to imagine you with a veil I must admit). The faith of 99% of people is determined by where they are born. A very small number change (Black Americans who become Muslim, Jews convert to Christianity, etc.) The existence of 3-4 major religions and dozens of smaller ones, all claiming they are right, all fragmenting more and more over time (how many Christian denominations are there now?) has convinced me that all religions are inventions of humanity.
Your goal here is different than mine: you want to change my mind and get me to accept Jesus as my lord and savor. I have no desire to change your mind or the mind of anyone else. My goal is just this: to answer your question, why don't you believe in Christ? The answer will also explain why I don't believe in Zeus, the Roman God of War (Mars), or Mohammed.
Indeed you and I are more similar than different. You reject all religions but one. I reject all.
Gotta go pull weeds
